Initially a flexi-cap fund under the aegis of Morgan Stanley, it took a mid and small-cap avatar when taken over by HDFC AMC. It morphed into a small-cap offering in 2016, but retains sizeable mid-cap presence even today. The fund portfolio is well diversified yet retains large positions in top few bets, with bias towards quality. The frequent changes in mandate have hurt the fund’s consistency, showing alternating bouts of sharp outperformance and underperformance. Its risk-return profile is not among the best in its category but has generally held up well over longer time frames.
